This week has been wonderful, as usual I had two different opportunities to sing this past week and now I will soon have two other chances to sing! I’m getting to share my testimony through song and I couldn’t be more grateful for that!
Saturday was our ward Thanksgiving party and talent show. Sister Rigby and I sang “Mary Did You Know?” with Brother Bascom accompanying us. It turned out pretty good considering we didn’t start practicing until Thursday! The talent show was over 2 hours long so by the end the kids were super squirmy. Elder Kremer also played the piano for the talents show and we had quite a few investigators show up for the performance and meal.
One of our investigators has accepted a baptismal date which is super great! We still have lots to teach him, but I know through the Lord everything is possible
It rained really intensely here this past week and it’s supposed to get even worse this week. The main road was totally flooded and the rain just kept coming down. This week is supposed to be even worse! SO while you all getting your lovely snow we will be chilling in a puddle of water lol
My song on Sunday ended up going pretty well and I was even able to hit my high notes. Afterwards one of the woman in our ward came and talked to me about all the things that I can work on techniquely. My companion was super confused why someone would do that, but I think that might have just been the Lord’s way of reminding me that I still have lots to work on. He didn’t need to worry. I hadn’t forgotten lol Lots of people said that they could feel the spirit which was the main goal of the piece, so I’m happy with how it went
One of the members in the bishopric asked me and Brother Bascom if we would perform again in February. I told them I would love to if I’m still here at that time. I hope I’m still here. I love Slidell and the people here, but I will go where ever I am need and trust that God knows what he’s doing Sister Rigby and I have also been asked to sing at zone conference in a week, so we will start working on music for that. I’m so grateful that the Lord in providing me with so many opportunities to use the talents he has blessed me with. I know that he always wants us working on our talents and also sharing the gifts that he has given. I feel like that is exactly what he is giving me the opportunity to do out here Share the gospel through music What an awesome blessing!
This week while we were tracting our butts off I found a scripture to share with people that went along with the theme of Thanksgiving- Alma 26:35 (Book of Mormon)
It is a wonderful scripture about realizing how incredible God is and everything that he has given us. Our God truly is good. He shouldn’t frighten us. He loves us and if we truly understand that love then we will want nothing more than to share that with the people around us. Christ worked through His love for the people. We can do the very same. How easy is it to just love those around us!
Another thing that I had read earlier this week in my personal study was in Mark 10:49 it reads, “…Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.” In this scripture the disciples are talking to a blind man that is calling out to Jesus, asking Christ to take mercy on him. I really love this scripture because sometimes we are much like the blind man. We think we are lost so we call out to God in our prayers, “have mercy on me.” I think we forget that Christ has already taken compassion on us. He has already called to us. WE just need to have the faith to come unto him. “…Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.” We need to take action and come unto Christ. He has already called, and he continues to call. All that is needed is for us to come
Well everyone I love you bunches!!! Thanks for being so wonderful and supportive!! It really does mean a lot Take care. Be safe and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Make everyday a day to be thankful for God’s tender mercies
I love you and the church is true!
