This week’s letter… The past few weeks have been kinda crazy! (Lots of opportunities to give service) We spent our entire Wednesday helping someone move, and then working at the bishops store house, Thursday we were at Bernice and Ryan’s friends house all day (8-6) helping them move, and Friday (10-6) we spent at a sister in the wards house helping her move! It’s crazy! We are the Mormon Missionary Moving Company lol. The four elders will move your furniture, while the two sisters help you pack! Sometimes the sisters will even move the furniture! And all you have to do is feed them! What a stellar deal! I’m grateful we were able to help those families, and I hope we left a good impression!
I don’t know if I’ve said this before, but everyone talks about Hurricane Katrina like it was yesterday. It was almost 7 years ago. There is a lot of healing that needs to be done in this area. The hard thing is that is has to happen one person at a time. I wish I could just hug every hurt and struggling person I meet and help them feel of Christ’s love for them. I want people to know that they have somewhere to turn when things seem so horribly hard, but some people just refuse to listen. They want help that I can’t give. The Lord is the only one that can truly heal them, and only if they allow Him to.
This past Sunday there was a really good lesson given. The title was Christ Wants to Forgive Us. The teacher focused on allowing us to forgive ourselves. Sometimes we stop our own progression because we are unwilling to lay down our burdens at the feet of the Savior and move on. We want to leave the hurt behind, but we are unwilling to forgive ourselves. So we find ourselves stuck because we don’t just let go of the pain. We won’t give our hurt to God and let Christ heal us. Even though Jesus thinks we are worthy enough to be forgiven, we are unwilling to forgive ourselves. I had never thought about sin and forgiveness that way before, but I think it is so true. When we forgive, we also have to forgive ourselves.
We were also able to visit a wonderful older couple that are home bound. I asked if we could sing a hymn for them. We harmonized with Nearer My God to Thee. I hoped it helped. I hoped it brought the spirit into the home. They really are such fantastic people and I wish there was more I could do more to help them. I really do feel lucky to know them.
I love you all, and I hope you know that!!! I am so blessed to have you all in my life, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the awesome support I’m getting from back home Thank you for being wonderful!
I love you and the gospels true!
